Every Group of 5 conference race is wide-open, and we’re a week away from seeing if any G5 teams are in the first College Football Playoff rankings. I asked for your G5 questions and got a lot of good ones. Let’s get into it.

Chris, last week The Athletic did midseason All-Americans for FBS overall, the transfer portal and freshmen. Can we get a quick G5 All-American team? — Louis S.

I think I made a midseason All-G5 team in our first year of college football coverage in 2017, but we never brought it back. I saw this question got a number of likes and requests, so here you go. Quarterback was the toughest choice. Debate away.

QB: Grayson McCall (Coastal Carolina)
RB: DeWayne McBride (UAB)
RB: Khalan Laborn (Marshall)
WR: Ali Jennings III (Old Dominion)
WR: Rashee Rice (SMU)
TE: Griffin Hebert (Louisiana Tech)
OL: Air Force (Not going to pretend I know enough about individual OL play)

DL: Jose Ramirez (Eastern Michigan)
DL: Viliami Fehoko (San Jose State)
DL: T.J. Jackson (Troy)
DL: Thomas Incoom (Central Michigan)
LB: Ivan Pace Jr. (Cincinnati)
LB: Jason Henderson (Old Dominion)
LB: Ezekiel Noa (Boise State)
CB: Steven Gilmore (Marshall)
CB: Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo)
S: Bentlee Sanders (Nevada)
S: Jack Howell (Colorado State)

K: John Hoyland (Wyoming)
P: Joe Doyle (Memphis)
Ret: Eric Garror (Louisiana)
