Crazy that he had to leave Texas to get onto an FBS team.  I know he went with his couch, but still.

Littrell is the HC so that explains how they missed on him. He was too concerned with making Aune into his starter to pay attention to anyone else lol

I’ve wondered the same thing.  And don’t forget UNT played against Zapp’s team right in Apogee Stadium.  He was impressive then.

Because he was an unrated recruit from Victoria East High School in Victoria, TX whose only offer was HBU/HCU.

He didn’t really get to be special until he hooked up with Kittley while at HBU. Zappe was only one HS class behind Mason so he only would’ve played one season here, that being 2020, if not for covid giving him the extra season nobody saw coming.

Yes but we played Zappe while he was with HBU. He and Kittley and the WRs put up yards against us. We had film, NT film, and experience with him. He wasn’t a complete unknown to us.

I thought the question was how we missed him out of high school and not out of HBU.

We missed out on him from HBU because we didn’t sign his wide receivers and we didn’t hire Kittley. We couldn’t hire Kittley because that would’ve meant demoting Bloesch.
