UTSA is not a rival.  They just happen to be in the same conference right now with similar conference records.   If Rice was 3-0 would they be Vito's rival for us?  Was SFA or NMSU a rival too back in the day?   La Tech games always draw good crowds.  No, it has to involve continued hatred, game or no game = Smut.

This seems to be a key point from each side:

One side says the games have to be competitive for it to be a rivalry.
Another says the scores don't really matter.

Sorry but I always find it a little humorous when someone uses a school that does not consider us their rival as an example of why we are their rival and that we do not have a rivalry with UTSA🤔

"If Rice was 3-0..." other than 2013 when we ruined their perfect conference record, what big games have been played since then?

      Football Adds 28 Transfers

      https://meangreensports.com/news/2025/1/23/morris-football-add-28-transfers-to-2025-roster The new players join the roster with a wealth of experience as 24 players come to UNT having played 10+ games, 19 have played 20+ games, 12 have seen action in 30+ games and five have played in 40+ contests collegiately in their careers. Of the 28 new additions to the roster, 21 join the Mean Green from FBS schools, three from FCS programs and two each from Division II and junior college institutions. In addition, eight of the new players have played for Big 12 programs, two have experience in the Big Ten, two join with playing time in the ACC and one joins with SEC experience.

      If we win out reg season we are in?

      I mean if we win out till the conference final and lose to Memphis in a close game, we would definitely be looked at - but the lack of quality wins would hurt us a lot. I think it'd be 50/50.

      The other terrible call was against, I believe Floyd, when Mash Jr. shot a three from the corner and kicked his leg out creating contact. I seem to recall this being called against Tylor Perry in an NIT game a couple of years ago. Floyd was a foot in front of him when he released the ball. Another ridiculous call went against Wright in the first half when he placed his hand on the chest of Picarelli and Picarelli flopped his head back like Wright had hit him with an uppercut. They reviewed the call to see if it was flagrant, it wasn't, but you know the refs are looking at that thinking, "Man, that was a bad call."
