Came here to play in big games, now three in a row – how much fun are you having?

Gabriel Murphy: A ton of fun. You know, that's why we came to a Power Five, to play in games like this, like you said. This one coming up's a big one, they said it's supposed to be a sold out game so we're very excited, and like you said, that's why we came here, and hopefully help the team.

Grayson Murphy: Yeah, always wanted to go to Oregon, so we'll get the chance. College GameDay being there, it's gonna be that much anticipated, that much more fun. And, you know, I'm just excited.

Chip Kelly said anything about the environment?

Grayson Murphy: Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're playing crowd noise out here and stuff like that. We know it's gonna be loud. And then coach Kelly, coming from there back in the day, he was talking about how the atmosphere, the stadium kind of bounces noise off it and back into the stadium. So it's gonna be loud, that's really what he's been pressing on us.

Any road games like that at North Texas?

Gabriel Murphy: Probably the closest, I would say, is UTSA, cause that was a big rivalry. It was always like, we beat them for the conference, they'd beat us for the conference, so that was a big game for us. And last year, they was ranked No. 15 in the country, so all the fans came out, and that's probably the biggest game I've ever played in.

Grayson Murphy: Yep.

I will go on record to say I loved the Murphy Bros. wearing green.  I know PB was not president of their fan club because of maybe one too many jumps offside, but to me that’s how competitive they were.  I only wish them the best in LaLa land.

The offsides were annoying, but it was the 15 yard penalties for me. Wish them all the best, but don’t miss the penalties. BTW, our penalties (or lack of penalties) this year has greatly improved!  Props to the coaches and players. GMG!

The OL play has been fantastic. 500 rush yards last game, 0 sacks last game, and yes, very few holding calls!!

I don't know the psychology behind it, but if someone feels like it might be useful to someone else - even if they don't care themselves - maybe it makes them feel useful to post it in a new thread, right?

So are we just supposed to forget about any player that has spent time here?  Doesn't seem wrong to keep tabs on guys that have given their time here to me.

In all seriousness, many of the same people who are so excited to post about how Kason Martin is doing in Portales, are the same ones pooping on the Murphys.   It's odd.

      Working on a long-term contract is not the same as getting a big raise and extension. To me it just means they're hearing whispers and are trying to lock him up before he takes another job. Not seeing anything that a deal is done.

      And the NFL, with 32 teams, only provides a maximum of 16 games a week. The need for more games is there. But people won’t watch leagues that are considered “minor”. What they will watch, in person and on TV, are the kids who will be in the NFL, representing the schools of states and cities they live in or went to or grew up near. The problem is that there aren’t more than probably 30 brands that really move the needle for ratings and attendance. If the CFB powers decided to coalesce into the following schools, the media and most of the CFB fandom wouldn’t even think twice about those left behind. Washington, Oregon, USC, UCLA, Texas, A&M, OU, Nebraska, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Bama, Auburn, Georgia, FSU, Florida, Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Penn State. These schools play in huge stadiums that are almost always full when they play someone else on the list, they represent 99% of the eyeballs for TV, and the media cover them big time. And their alumni give tons of money to these programs. Sure, there are other programs that could meet some of the criteria I mentioned above, but nobody is clamoring to make sure they get to watch Utah vs Texas Tech or West Virginia vs BYU as if it’s the same as a game between the 30 teams mentioned above. At some point, the government will make its way to taking fees for athletics away from the students and making it paid for by alumni and local supporters. When that happens, CFB at places like here will probably end.

      What would be the top 3 places to see a game? Off hand, I’d say, Allen Fieldhouse, Cameron Indoor Stadium, and Pauley Pavilion, but Hinkle would be on the list for the next few places to see a game.

      They have the most money and the most talent. It’s probably going to be at least half SEC. I figure Florida and Auburn have great chances, while Tennessee has a fair chance, and Bama over Duke seems like a very low chance of happening.
