Any players redshirting after playing 4 games?

Do we have anyone who we have played, or are planning to play in the allowable 4 games and then sit?

I’m pretty sure Tommy Bush may be.  Didn’t see him at all last couple of games.

He has been playing. Sports reference has him at 6 games played.

We had a lot of true freshmen play in the Texas Southern game. Samora Ezekiel, Howard Sampson, Isaiah Villanueva, and Qualon Farrar that I saw. Stone Earle still has his redshirt available as well and he has only played one game.

Thanks. Heard an interesting story that Sam Houston, in getting ready to move up, has several players they are trying to redshirt. Keeler is playing them in groups so they all play in four games, but not everyone will be out at the same time.

I wouldn't try to redshirt anyone anymore.  

The days of developing a player and letting him grow up slowly are over.  The odds are just too good that someone P5 will be shopping our roster and offering too much NIL money.

Agree and Mazin is a good example of this as many others. It’s a new era.

I doubt they are concerned with the future over the right now. Anyone that can contribute will be played without any concern for a redshirt. Coaches on the hot seat plan their seasons differently than those that know they will be around awhile.

This^^  And sure as heck not for this game with UTSA.  Our pups will play FIU homecoming game if we are in command, and they will play vs Rice if we are winning.  Outside of that, I wouldn't expect Seth to play anyone that can't help him win right now.  Not sure it will help...because beating UTSA, Western, and UAB are all tall orders.  He has to win 2 of those 3 to have any chance at an extension.

1. What’s the harm in redshirting guys who aren’t in your rotation?

2. What are the odds of P5s plucking guys off of our rosters with NIL money? So far it has just been the Murphy twins and guys utilizing their extra COVID season of eligibility at a P5 (Cam Johnson, Jacob Brammer). Has there even been any indication that it was because of NIL money anyways? What’s the NIL market for a Right Tackle at Vanderbilt?

I just don’t think the evidence we have justifies being so defeatist that any player we develop is just destined to get poached by a P5.
