One of my all-time favorites.

Yeah sad that Trailor trash kicked us out of East Texas and good players like Jeff.  Maybe we can get back in there in the next few years if we play our cards right.

So what exactly is keeping us out of East and Southeast Texas for recruits?  So many really good 6A, 5A, programs down there to recruit from.  Maybe we could find our Steve Wooster (R.I.P.) down there some day.  La Tech, Houston, ULL, and of course B12 Texas schools recruit for quality players all the time.

That has way more to do with Seth and Tommy Perry breaking up than Traylor.

Correct. Traylor is a legend at Gilmer and he has a lot of clout. Tommy Perry was the guy that found Wilson in little ole Elkhart TX.

We haven't had a solid East Texas recruiter since. It's a different ball game out there, similar to West Texas. Unless you're a P5, the relationships with all these coaches in these towns spread out is key to getting quality players. You have to have a guy that knows the towns, the coaches, the culture.

Feels like Littrell is doing that in Oklahoma with Cobbs and his own connections, but he seems to have given up on East Texas as a whole

If Littrell has given up recruiting East and Southeast Texas, then he's not trying hard enough.  Find one of the top HS (5A or 6A) coaches out of Southeast Texas and hire him to recruit SE Texas!   There has to be a connection between the recruiter and the area they are recruiting.  An assistant out of Oklahoma or Kansas has no connection with High School coaches in SE Texas or the players out of SW Louisiana.

Note:  I don't claim to know anything about recruiting, but to me some of this could be common sense.
