Joe Hamilton?

We have a winner. He is the first player I really remember watching.

In just two seasons with the Eagles basketball team, Joe Hamilton was a two-time all-Missouri Valley Conference pick who still ranks among the school's all-time career scoring leaders.

Hamilton, a 5-foot-10 guard, was a Junior College All-American before arriving in Denton. At North Texas, he averaged 21.4 points per game for his career. He his 81.6 percent of his career free throws.

Hamilton was selected in the ninth round of the 1970 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and in the fourth round of the 1970 American Basketball Association Draft by the Texas Chaparrals, and he signed with the ABA team that would become the Dallas Chaparrals and later the San Antonio Spurs. He scored 1,318 points in 84 games (15.7 points per game) during the 1970–71 ABA season and made the ABA All-Rookie team.

He also played for the ABA's Kentucky Colonels and later in the European Professional Basketball League, where he averaged 24 points per game.

Ken Williams

Williams led the Mean Green in rebounding for three seasons, holds the top two single season rebounding totals in school history, and the career record for total rebounds. During his senior season, when he led the NCAA in rebounding, he averaged 14.7 rebounds per game in 28 games.

In 1997, Williams was inducted into the school's athletics hall of fame

Jesse Ratliff

We have a winner.  A native of Biloxi, MS.

University of North Texas North Texan Online Fall 2001 : Homecoming

It didn't take long for Jesse Ratliff to find the path to stardom at North Texas, where he lettered in basketball from 1990-91 to 1993-94.

Seven games into his freshman season, Ratliff was inserted into the starting lineup - a role he never relinquished. Four years and 114 games later, Ratliff left as the school's No. 2 all-time scorer with 2,130 points.

After earning freshman of the year honors in the Southland Conference, Ratliff was a three-time All-Southland Conference performer. Perhaps the greatest stretch in Ratliff's career came during his sophomore season, when he combined to score 63 points and grab 31 rebounds in league games against McNeese State and Nicholls Stats, for which he was named Player of the Week by Sports Illustrated.

Although Ratliff was an explosive scorer, he was also a powerful rebounder who totaled 913 career rebounds.
