I am creating this thread because I know that somebody associated with UNT Football is reading it.  It is my hope that this person will share some of the thoughts with the coaching staff because what we saw in Las Vegas was trash.  I have no intention for anyone to use this thread to bash the coaches, request their firing, or tell them who to start at any position.  I simply would like people to provide insight on areas to improve and offer solution that will put our player in better positions to highlight their talents.

ex: Tips

1. Incorporate some running plays that forces defense lineman to run sideways.

2. Try throwing the ball to a WR in the Red Zone, it has worked well for us in previous years and it helps to keep the defense honest.

3. When the put eight and nine in the box, allow the QB to check to another play, that has a chance to work.

4. Our offensive line is not the Dallas Cowboy Line that Emmitt Smith had.

6. Get a professional to check Aune's hand-eye coordination. I'm serious. For a 
QB to be in his third year and consistently overthrowing the ball or throwing it at the feet of the receiver says depth perception problems to me.

7. maybe line the qb up under the center when you are less than a yard from the end zone.  We have good center and a big qb and everyone will expect the shotgun with the handoff to the running back.  They will never see the qb sneak up the middle.

This this this. Everyone on the planet knows our play call on 4th and short, everyone. We are not good enough to gain that yardage with them knowing the play, especially running the play out of the shotgun. Be creative, don’t just bang our collective heads against the wall because we “should” get the yardage and we are too stubborn to innovate.

12. When your defensive line is clearly gassed, it is ok to send in some backups for a few plays. A fresh backup is oftentimes a better option than a starter with nothing left in the tank. The other team’s offensive coaches can see how tired they are and will fully exploit that weakness.

Very apt tbh. But they have Mahomes that can make every throw, and we have Aune that… can’t (to be nice)

Same here. Whether they got the idea from here or on their own, I’m glad they made some changes.

I saw this difference that I suggested implemented this week and was very pleased.

16. If you are going to keep using Aune and actually have him run the ball, run it at full speed in practice with full contact. The guy looks like he is running on ice half the time like he has never practiced pulling it and running. To be a threat in the run game and alleviating the pressure on our running backs he has to be quick and deliberate and absolutely cannot tackle himself like he did on Saturday. He isn’t fast but if he makes quick decisions with a quick first step he can get 3-4 yards per carry which will take some pressure off the backs.

Well, it’s obvious the coaches read this thread and got some great coaching tips.  The season turned around soon after this thread first appeared.  GMG.

18.  We need a better start in the 3rd quarter.  The three and out or one first down drive is a waste of taking the ball at the half.  Stop putting the twos in at receiver.  The miscues are not helping Aune, and bad things are happening.  This was the case in most of the games.  Let the one's set the tone for the first drive during the second half.

19. Our most explosive running backs are injured, you need some twitch back there, Aune flat out doesn’t have it. IF you want to win your first conference championship game, USE EARLE’S athleticism!

      UNT enrollment declining

      I'm sure the Master's programs that UNT is seeing enrollment drops in are the university's top profit center. Their student population probably uses the least amount of on-campus resources during the program compared to undergrads and PhDs, and they're probably overpaying or seeing less student aid usage to be in the programs. The flip side of the coin is that it's entirely possible that people are starting to realize that employers don't really care about Master's level paper as much as they did 20+ years ago. As the state of the world is going this week, if there is a prolonged economic downturn and a depressed hiring market for undergrads, most universities generally see an uptick in kids graduating and keeping on with it into a Master's program. I would advise undergrads that they're lighting money on fire, but if you can't find a job or start paying on loans, it can seem like a real option to keep learning. Will it result in a higher level of pay once they first time enter the workforce? Probably not, especially in today's world of AI threatening lower entry-level jobs, and H-1Bs threatening the rest. But the average Gen X parents will still push University degrees as a solution to all their unemployed kids' problems, just like the Boomer parents did before them.

      Great bar environment and even better seafood restaurant next door. If you want a killer Italian Meat sandwich, arrive early enough to get one from Enzo's next door. Points if you sneak it into the Wilfred. 😅 Kudos to getting them to change the door pincode. I think it had been set to the year of Woodstock since the Wilfred opened.

      Is it lateral if: TX State goes to the PAC-Reboot with one other AAC Team that isn't us Memphis and USF go to the ACC UTEP is in Mountain West We're suddenly playing Sam Houston and Tarleton State in a combined AAC-USA? That's nightmare fuel for me, and seems entirely possible if Mosley keeps on Mosleying along with status quo.

      Oh gosh. I grabbed a couple of tickets on Wednesday. Purchased them through UNT to do the green and white a solid. I guess 'Tier 3' means Toilet Level seating. Me and my guest will have an awesome view of the Tulsa band with these seats. Good grief. You know how you go to the Super Pit and inevitably someone is sitting in your seat when you get there? Yeah, I apologize in advance if I do it to one of you. I'm gonna be behind our bench like the women's games. GMG
