This may come off as a hot take, but I really think limiting the amount of cars on UNT's campus would do wonders in retaining and recruiting new students to UNT. Don't get me wrong, the campus has a relatively pleasant esthetic, but after seeing what schools like the University of Louisville have done with their campus, it really has me fantasizing about how beautiful campus could become. I am new to Texas, and I know how much you guys love your cars here, so please let me know your thoughts on these ideas. Thanks everyone!

Okay here goes...

1- Install sidewalks anywhere possible down by Mean Green Village (especially on the way to the soccer stadium)

2- convert inner campus parking lots into green spaces and pedestrian walkways to enhance a "park like setting" for campus

3- guard rails/fences and aesthetic bushes alongside roadways to enhance pedestrian safety, and minimize the exposure of cars to campus

4- paint UNT logos in the middle of road intersections to make UNT identifiable and unique to new visitors

5- (most controversial I am assuming but here me out...) Do anything we can to limit the amount of parking on campus in order to increase a more residential style campus. Make parking lots off campus, and establish robust public transit to take commuter students onto central campus from the parking lots

My family moved to Denton in the mid-60's.  It is a "park-like setting" compare to then.  Streets ran all through campus.

Then again, that is more area to mow and take care of.  After looking at the conditions around Apogee on Saturday, I would be shocked to see how it was cared for. They knew there would be a large crowd, many possibly on campus for the first time and didn't even get a weedeater out.
