SMU knows their strengths and plays to them. Kudos to them. No different in the private sector- you gotta pay for talent, who otherwise wouldn't go to your company.
They paid players sure, but Dykes slowly established a recruiting infrastructure that Lashlee expanded. Decent coaching matters too.
We haven't beaten SMU since 2018- and the games haven't been close. I'd love for us to even have 1/10 of the infrastructure SMU does.
He ain't wrong though. Now that you can rent a team every year, the wealthier schools will be able to purchase their CFP spots. I just want to watch good football with some parity. Not someone who's hanging out for a bigger paycheck each year. It's just not fun college sports.
