If we continue to shutdown the running game, it appears we have the talent to frustrate qb's forced to throw.  UTEP high passing numbers were both a result of inexcusable defensive penalties keeping a long drive alive and UTEP having to throw at the end of 3rd quarter and the entire 4th quarter.  Their running game was basically abandoned.

UTEP definitely had their chances to put us down by more points multiple times in the first half.  We weathered the storm and made adjustments.  I loved seeing us run the ball straight up the gut on them as that was their supposed strength.  UTEP defense was tired and lost their will in the 2nd half.

Aune while playing well cannot miss that many open receivers against SMU if we want to win.

Overall good start but as Seth said..."There is a lot to clean up."

I thought Whitlock had an interception late.

I thought the same, but just went back to that play and they said he didn't have control, but we ended up getting the ball on downs since that was 4th down.
