That's what the news says, take it up with them.  The whole "100 year 500 year" etc nomenclature is really poor. It's actually a descriptor of the probability of such an event happening in a year, not that it can only happen once in that time frame.  Sounds a lot less cataclysmic.

Actually, I did also hear this from a couple Dallas broadcasters.   15+ inches of rain in 24-hours (parts of Dallas) is insane and would smash the official DFW record of just over 9 inches.
