Lauren Crain is the Recruiting Operations Coordinator.  I would guess this role includes coordinating their visits and their time on campus, conducting tours, and the fine details of when a recruit/recruits visit.

Gordon will be the Recruiting Coordinator that is actively involved in identifying recruits, making contact with their coaches/parents and getting these recruits to make their final decision.

Note:  I stress the word "guess" in my second sentence.

Yeah, I bet you're right.   Craine's job is MacKenzie Morris' job, and Shelby McIntyre's before her.  I doubt any responsibilities changed here.
Sounds like all of those folks screaming for a person to be a guy that's dedicated to recruiting the portal might have got their wish in a roundabout way.   I doubt that's all Gordon's job will be, but at least Walerius won't be stretched thin across H.S., JUCO, & Portal recruiting.
He's likely an additional recruiter, in the sense of finding/identifying talent for the actual recruiting coaches (NCAA only allows 11) to contact.   Walerius' right-hand man in a sense.

We did well in the transfer portal last year according to 247sports.com ranking 1st in CUSA.  If this is the new guy's focus, hopefully we can keep this going.

The narrative was UTSA snagged every transfer portal stud on the market and we got the leftovers.  What am I missing?

Seem like a strange hire. I never heard of him. Is he connected in THSFB world?

Was a DB for us around 2010 out of Oklahoma.  Appears he has coached at East Central University and some high schools.

I think the narrative you're missing is last year we all seemed to agree that the coaching staff needed to emphasize the portal even more so than high school recruiting in some respects.  Then we all bemoaned our poor ranking of the high school class (some questioning why we play football at all) and simultaneously ignored our number one ranking of our transfer class.  As dedicated Mean Green fans we faithfully over-emphasize anything negative and discount anything positive.  Surely the low ranking of our high school recruits is 100% accurate and signals the disaster that awaits us.  At the same time, the high ranking of our transfer class (by the same ranking site) cannot possibly be accurate, we are doomed.  We like to have it both ways...it's who we are.
