Huh? Gunnell only got 3 possessions , and went 60 yards with a 29 yard TD strike in the end zone, and an 80 yard TD drive with a 12 yard first down scamper on 4th, and put the ball right in the hands.

2) Unless it gets cleaned up, we will stop our own drives again this year on penalties.  i watched for 20 minutes and I swear I saw 6-7 false starts.  
 

3) In typical North Texas fashion, they invite fans to show up at 11am to watch the team…and finish practice at 11:20

4) Oscar Adaway looks good. 
 

5) It appears we will be a run first offense again.  I think we should change the motto to “hand it off low, and watch them go”

6) I think we will really miss Novil and Colvin in the middle

Our coordinator is an offensive line coach and we're supposed to have a good offensive line coach and they're still pulling this crap?

Good grief.  It is early.  They are getting use to different quarterbacks with different cadences.  Give them more repetitions before you write them off.

First off, he has the tangibles as far as build.  Second, his ball seemed to get out on time and he was hitting receivers where they are most comfortable making the catch.  A lot was made last year about “drops” by receivers, but a part of that is the body position a receiver us in when he’s asked to make a catch.  Last, after big plays he was going around to everyone on the offense, patting o-linemen on the head and celebrating with skill players (and this was on running touchdowns).

I mean, their first game is in 3 weeks so things need to tighten up a bit. I don't think anybody is writing them off. Just expressing concern about a pre-existing issue. If that's an issue during scrimmage, what will it be in a packed house in El Paso?

I envision a scenario much like Masons freshman year. Aune starts the first game, but if the team is sputtering, enter Gunnell and then ride that horse all the way to the AAC!

I thought Adaway and Ayo both looked pretty good. If Adaway has a healthy year, he could be special. 
 

Aune looked better. Gunnel had some nice throws. Ruder had a nice deep pass to #82. 
 

We got there around 10:30. My little one played around, grabbed a snack, then we watched a few mins of the scrimmage. 
 

The event was pretty nice. I thought Aune looked okay today. None of the other QBs did anything to unseat him. Gunnell did throw a nice pass to Neville for a TD. Tom Treib is gonna be a treat to watch this season. He showed some good awareness & speed after picking off an Aune pass and taking it 30 yards to the house. RBs are deep, each one showed flashes even the true freshman Farrar.

Besides not getting to see the practice because I got there at 11:15 and not 10:15, it was the best set up and best attended one I've been to.  The only other issue we had is they kept running out of pizza and you had to be close when the new pizza showed up or you'd miss it.  I was shocked at the attendance because of the lack of interest/excitement I thought surrounded this season.

A lot of folks talk online but still show up when it matters. Optimism is more fun.

      That is very subjective. Boise State or UNLV probably will get the G5 spot in the playoff over a one loss Army team. Louisville, SMU, Houston, Rutgers and Cincinnati left conference for greener pastures. So I don’t know who anointed the AAC as 5th, but the playoff committee isn’t listening to them. Army, a team brand new to the conference that came into the conference and dominated. They were independent juggernauts last year at 6-6 🙄. AAC is viewed as better than the MAC, CUSA and Sun Belt. But we certainly won’t be viewed as better than the reconstructed PAC 12 and right now it doesn’t look like we are viewed better than the current MWC.

      Football at The Dat next wrekend

      Don't if y'all know this or not.....but the last two years we've had Texas high school football games played in Louisiana. Both years the games have been at Turpin Stadium in Natchitoches. As a matter of fact, this year they hosted two games on the same day. (Daingerfield versus Newton, and Texarkana versus Port Neches Grove). Both games were last Friday.
