There is no way I would think C-USA emphasized geography at al. I guess we have a different understanding of what kind of geography is valuable. To me what I meant is a fairly tight footprint with similar places. You seem to mean programs placed in big tv markets no matter how far appart. The belt had the worse programs, but created a tighter footprint and its programs ended up thriving while those from C-USA failed because of lack of identity. By that I do not mean football programs only, but also shared values and ideas of what the institutions are. C-USA had a horrifically large footprint simply based on markets with programs that had little in common. The belt won.
