Well the collapse has not occured yet and the Rangers are in first place again.

They have 53 games left, and 33 are at home...I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high, but it's getting tougher to do every day.

Cara and I went to the game last Saturday Drese vs. Zito. Drese could not throw a strike, I have never heard a collective moan from a stadium like when he walked in a run. It seemed like he started every batter 2-0 or 3-0. Then yesterday he did very well against the Tigers. But Zito lost to the Rangers for the first time ever this year and other than he owns them so a loss there isn't suprising. I didn't agree with sitting Blalock in favor of PERRY though. Perry is as close to a sure out the Rangers have.

I believe it was the highest attended regular season game ever, third to the all-star game and a playoff game. It was dang near full, empty seats were few and far between.

The A's always make a run this time of the year and are delivering again. I have this catious optimism because 33 of the 53 games left are at home where the Rangers have been pretty good this year. I can't wait to see the Ballpark packed and buzzing in September. That would be something we haven't seen in a while.

Talon90 and I were at that game too, along with a group of buddies from our fantasy baseball league (We sat in the 200 level just past third base). I was very disappointed by Drese's performance in that game, although I know it was the exception for him and not the norm this season.

The lack of consistent starting pitching still bothers me about this team. If the bats ever go into an extended slump, this team could be in trouble. Still, it seems they somehow keep putting up W's, despite their deficiencies. I hope they can win the division, but I have a feeling it will be a dogfight with the A's and Angels all the way through September.

It does make me wonder if the Rangers would be in the same shape if they had hung on to A-Rod. Even though I was a great fan of his, and thought that Hicks could have gotten more from whatever team obtained A-Rod, I think this team is doing better than it would have if he was still here.

I need to peak at the September schedule. I might be able to make a game or two when it's not 100+ at noon.
