I love GMG.com because of the anonymity.
But sometimes, people will slip up and say who they are.
You must not have caught it when the person you're talking to here did.... Based on when you joined here, I think I have a general idea of when you graduated, & there's a good possibility that this guy's name is on your diploma. We're lucky he's here.
Yes, these games are not so much about the opponent we're playing against as it is just "being seen" as a program Nationally. Building our Brand and program with more National media. Mid-majors that win, also need to be seen and known to pollsters. Dayton, Gonzaga, St. Marys, we've all seen them on ESPN. Our turn.
Sure, blame the fans, it's what you do best.
College sports now rarely allows for player development. The players don't have the patience to wait, are offered bribes from other schools to leave, or simply seek more playing time and use the relaxed transfer rules with no restrictions.
Coaches that were used to having 2-3 seasons with young roster players don't anymore. Some have left the profession because of it; they couldn't adapt.
Hodge has experience at yearly roster-building from his JUCO days where it was routine each season. He has no fear of reloading or replacing players. He wins, so no big deal. But as a player, if you don't make the top 8 on his team to begin a season, it's bench time, unless an injury happens. As a fan, don't expect to see them on the team next season. Another piece to the reasons fans don't feel connected to the teams.
