Question for the Texas High School and Middle School coaches

I’m putting my son in Todd Dodge’s football camp this summer and you have to bring your own ball. I wanted to know if middle school uses a smaller ball than high school or if they are the same. He will be a 5th grader next year so I’m trying to figure out the best size ball to get him for his long term development.

Middle school often uses a smaller football.  They are not required to do so, but most will.

I've seen some 7th Grade teams use the large Youth ball and some use a NCAA ball.  Take the one that fits him best now, since that will allow him to best use the mechanics that he will be taught

Just bring whatever size you want and tell ol' ball coach, "football is football."

no, each team provides their own ball.

Most 7th grade uses the youth size. 8th grade is hit or miss between standard and youth.  Our feeder pattern has 8th grade use the NCAA size to allow the kids to get used to it before their freshman year.
