"Devil" is the hybrid OLB/DE.
"Eagle" is the hybrid OLB/S.

Thanks!

I can’t imagine that Faulkner would be an option at Devil (or any DB type). Honestly I hope Faulkner isn’t an option anywhere. He was overmatched at Eagle and at safety. Good kid and worked hard but just a step too slow for this level.

Shouldn’t we be adding the new Nebraska transfer WR to the projected starting lineups?

We may as the season rolls on but he'll have to earn his spurs in a pretty talented receiver room.

I think we need to stop making it seem like Ruder failed because he was “rushed.” He didn’t have to be lights out by the SMU game. He was given time and by game 4 he started 3-10 for 13 yards, more than 4 months after he got to Denton.

We’re talking about guys in their 4th year of college like Ruder was last year and Gunnell will be this year. 4 months of learning an offense that doesn’t have a ton of plays or read progressions, and 4 games under their belt, if they are still struggling and not showing signs of progress, that says more about the player than them being rushed IMO.

if you only knew how things went down. Jace got to Denton in June. No contact with coaches cause they were recruiting.  Coaches are on vacation in July. Still no contact with coaches.  First contact with coaches fall camp. So you really don’t know shit.

This isn't disproving Billy.  You simply raised more questions, like

Did he have contact with players? Was there no one to get him started on our playbook?
Maybe our playbook is really hard?
Are you saying we shouldn't read too much into Jace's first 3 years?

...my position is, I've been a big supporter of Ruder.  Not sure why, but I still really hope he is the guy.  I would love any and all reasons for optimism.

Was he not given a playbook the whole time they were gone? I didn’t say anything about coaches working with him over the summer, because I know those interaction times between players and coaches are limited. So not sure that’s the big “gotcha” to my points that you are acting like it is.

See true freshman Mason Fine for evidence that it can be done.

Anybody know if Gunnel is on the same track?

And the fact we have not shown any evidence of having someone on staff who can develop QBs

Since this seems to be a comment about coaching rather than the player, after, what, 2-3 years at UNC, I wouldn't think it would be necessary to spend a lot of time developing a QB.  What does this say about the ability or inability of P5 UNC to develop QBs (if that's the issue)?  Some QBs don't need a lot of development - they have "it" and are ready.  I can see coaching development necessary when bringing in a high school player with some raw talent, but if you have someone that's been in a high-level college program for multiple years, a lot of that development should have already been accomplished, no?  Maybe the development is more about experience playing in a live game setting than pure coaching "development."

But for real:

This is a bold prediction, as pretty-much everything coming from the AD & Vito has gassed-up Gumms.

I think Lee should play but Gumms passes the eye test for sure. Could be a real weapon if used correctly.

I’m surprised not to see Richards on the 2-deep after Bennett spoke so highly of him.

What happened to the WR from Nebraska?

He wasn't here for the spring workouts and has yet to practice with the squad.  When fall practice is underway we'll see if he moves up the charts.

Also a freshman who never played a snap. Tap the brakes.

This not our two deep. This is what DCTF predicts.
