I didn't live in a dorm my freshman year.  Or my sophomore, junior or senior years either.

Some people are introverts and want to be by themselves.  I didn't have to dorm it when I started but I was already in the Air Force when I started college and was exempted by my 3 schools (A&M, Illinois, and finally NT)

Freshman year, living at Clark Hall was one of the best years of my life.  You’re nuts if you have the opportunity to live in a dorm your Freshman year & refuse… in my opinion.

I met a couple of life time friends in the dorm.  I only lived in them one year and bolted.

Would have been nice to not share a bathroom with three other people, but living in a dorm is a fun experience that everyone should get to enjoy.

I regret not getting as involved with student organizations as I would have liked.

If people want to cry for privacy, then build an all-single bed dorm.

I tend to agree with you but now all these private companies have gotten into the mix.

I transferred in the spring as a sophomore and spent 2.5 years in dorms until I graduated, and I loved every minute. Made a ton of friends and was involved in a lot of intramurals/organizations and was well worth it IMO. Made it feel like home
