Any others?  I'm pretty sure UNC played here when we hosted the first round of the tourney decades ago, but we weren't the home team, so I'm not counting that.

Good call!  Been a long time since I looked at my NCAA championship history book (it only goes through the early 90s since that's when I got it).  That was in the era where arguably the NIT was just as, if not more, prestigious as the NCAA.  I think even Adolph Rupp at Kentucky said something like the NCAA was the lesser tourney back then.

And Cincy’ visited Denton with future NBA Hall of Fame member Oscar Robertson to boot.

First of all, no one called it the "Snake Pit"  (my little crusade)

If we are speaking of teams in the title game rather than champions, we can add:

Memphis

Cincinnati

Bradley

Oklahoma State (then A&M)

Houston

I'm sure there are others.

A couple interesting tidbits about Coach McCasland:

- He has never won a regular season finale in Denton.  0-5 in 5 seasons.

- As a HC (anywhere), he has never lost a post season first round game.  At Midwestern State, he made it to the E8 both years.  In Denton, he won the CBI in year 1, won last year's NCAA R64 game, and secured his first NIT win yesterday.  His one year at Ark St did not involved a postseason.

I was at the game when we played Cincinnati in their NCAA championship year in 1961 at home.  Hogue, Thacker, Yates and Bonham were four of the starters. That was in the Missouri Valley Conference days.  That was when the MVC was called the Valley of Death.  It was also the year after The Big O had finished.

Good calls.  I thought all the Louisville games were pre-Super Pit.  Forgot we even hosted Wyoming.
