Why do the women play on 88.1 ? The one.

I’m all about the women.  My Mom was a woman.  My sister was a woman.  I even married a woman.  But why do the NT women play on 88.1 the flagship NT station and the men play somewhere else ?

My guess it because it's much easier to get commercial stations to carry the Men's Games than Women's.  So if they play at the same time, that means the Women will be carried by 88.1

88.1 cannot air certain advertisements as well since they are a non-profit station, and the men's games and football carry those kinds of advertising.

Well, that never used to be an issue before about 3-4 years ago.  Instead of airing commercials they'd air PSAs.

Learfield changed that recently. I saw a tweet about it once upon a time but I can't find it.

A lot of PSAs.  The same PSAs.  Over and over.  Thank you for the explanation.  That makes sense.

Yes when we switched to learfield the commercial aspect of North Texas athletics radio changed. Hence why most game are no long on KNTU. Can’t sell advertising
