Lubbock, Texas— The Mean Green kicked off the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic with a 5-4 win over Texas Tech on Friday evening. Both teams started off hot offensively, combining for five runs in the first two innings before a four-inning stretch that only saw one run scored.

QUOTING HEAD COACH RODNEY DELONG
"It's tough anytime you have a long break like we did. I'm really proud of how we prepared in these last two weeks, our practices have been good. We were pretty sharp tonight. I'm proud of our kids and played a really solid game."

"Winning on a Friday night at a Big XII school is a big win. I expect them to bounce back and be really tough in the next two games that we play against them. For us it's just moving forward and keeping the energy up and playing good softball."
