Mean green Maniacs are becoming powerful

I really think they seemed to have an effect on us winning against La Tech.  I am also impressed with their growing size.  This group could equal and surpass what the Pit Crew was in pretty short order with McCasland at the helm.  I certainly hope the school will support them financially as they have the Talons over the years.

I say this with an unblemished record of not being offended by anything and I’m not offended now. It’s not about being offended. I don’t even care that it was so loud for my 9 and 7 year olds to hear it (they didn’t really realize what they were saying anyway) I’m sure they’ve heard worse, so whatever.

But the little 2 word descriptor addition to the fight song. It’s been brought up before. It’s just much more noticeable inside the Pit than it is at Apogee. But it’s just…..so stupid. And it doesn’t do anything positive to help our school in any way. 

It’s really more embarrassing than offensive. In a pathetic, bush league sort of way. It makes us look bad.

With Great Power comes Great Responsibility. The North Texas Student Section is starting to garner some national attention. Way to go Pit Crew/Maniacs!

I know I am always the quiet and unopinionated guy here, but, I need to pipe in on this current Pit Crew/Maniacs name debate.

It's common knowledge that I view the world through a Green filter, and I can already hear y'all pleading "yes Adler, please share your wisdom". Well, here it is.

The Maniacs name is already taken, has been established for years, and it's something that I don't want our student section to be compared to or associated with: MANIACS  (WARNING: LINKED MATERIAL MAY BE DISTURBING)

Sorry, ok, try not to pluck out your eyes after viewing that ugliness.

It's a little late to change for this season, well, way too late, but please revert to the name PIT CREW in future seasons. It's unique, it's catchy, and it's ours.

Oh that ship has sailed. I get it. “M’fin eagles” sounds like something UTSA or some other trash community college would do  

I just want our school to look good.

If this is a trust tree for grievances, I have two:

1.) As our hard fought win against UTEP wound down and everyone exhaled, why did they break out an “overrated” chant? It even drowned out an already strong “start the bus.”

2.) When we jumped out to the last 7-point lead before LT’s last gasp, a FT shooting Lofton got the same “overrated” chant. He immediately took over the game out of annoyance.

There is really no reason to use this chant in conference and goes against the idea of letting the game come to you. 
 

I am now old and look forward to sending you my favorite political email forwards when I pee sitting down at 345 am.

They're college kids. They think it's fun, cool, etc to throw "MF Eagles" into the chant. It's been going on for a while now and isn't going to go away. At this point, just accept it and move on. No matter what older fans, the administration, etc. try to do, it isn't going to stop. Kind of beating a dead horse at this point.

Mexico soccer fans get sanctions, forced to play in empty stadiums, etc for yelling "puto" at refs, opposing players, etc. Hasn't stopped them. Same for college kids. Good luck, y'all are fighting a losing battle.

Speaking of the old B.S. chant, I remember a long time ago...maybe the early 90s, the Coach K complained about the Cameron Crazies going over the line with stuff.  The next game instead of the old B.S. standby, they chanted "We Beg to Differ" with the same staccato rhythm. 

 

 

They can be uniquely hilarious.

Our last game is against UTEP, they are pretty good and if you look up this conversation string their student section is rated pretty high. We might be getting some of our own medicine Saturday.

When does that happen so audibly you can hear it watching from home? Only tantrums swearing at refs I’ve heard in the arena are from that sweet 40-60 age range that is generally in the process of turning a delightful shade of pink over a botched baseline call while their wives wince or try to calm them down.
