If you look at the UNT athletics history they started off with a bang under Theron "Lovejoy" Fouts and climaxed under the great Hayden Fry.  But even in the Fry heyday of the 70's there was an issue with funding and support from the administration and that continues until the aughts.  Say what you will about RV but he did lead a revival of athletic facilities that we may never be able to replicate.  The historical lack of funding and support from the administration led to fan apathy and hurt us in so many ways.  Dr. Pohl and RV helped to point us in the right direction although there were mistakes made along the way.

My point is the biggest problem area for UNT other than funding has been our lack of good quality coaching hires.  Part of the reason why for this in the past was we did not have the money and facilities and conference to attract the big names.  That has changed in the past 5-6 years as now we pay our football coach at the top of the C-USA league.

I think that the Grant McCasland hire has changed things in a very big way.   Even if Grant is lured away, we have set up a blueprint here that could be followed by the next HC.

I think Grant McCasland may be the savior we have all been hoping and praying for I really do.

I think we can agree that we need a lot more support here in the 20's.
