Depends what the CFP are paying these days for a backup qb.

Would rather be a starter at a G6 or get paid to sit on the bench?  These alternatives is what UNT can offer.

It is a tough question if they paying 50k to sit on the bench and go to college.  I was a poor college student and had a blast.  Could not imagine  having 50k to go to school.   A lot of players come from poor backgrounds so the money is important.

On the other side you have playing all your life and sure you want to be on the field.  You will work to make money the rest of your life but you have a short window to play the game.   It would be hard choice to make  and I am sure they are getting a lot of feed back from family and friends.

I would say true competitors would want to be a starter. Nobody remembers the #2 QB

can you tell me Mason Fine would give up his 4 years at UNT to be a back-up at Alabama?

None of the above is really relevant: no kid chooses a back up role.  They pick a school with the mindset that they will compete for starting job.  That's an implication when you are offered a scholarship: that you will be given that opportunity.

If Mason Fine was offered by us and 'bama, he'd probably choose 'bama and expect to compete for the starting job.

Flip side: no coach is going to offer a kid a scholarship to sit at #2 permanently.  No one would sign up for that.

I hate the use of the term of G6

NT moving to the AAC doesn't change that.

Me too. It’s just a couple little letters but it shouts “Us and Them” as clearly as “D1 and D2” !
