Obviously, some of the Wichita fans and maybe administration are not aware enough to look at the program, that they have scheduled for a buy win game.

Anyone scheduling a McCasland NT team should be fully aware of what they are going to get.

Smaller program reference is not exactly accurate when comparing NT and Wichita State, an university that does not even have a football team.

Some fun stats:

Enrollment:

Witcita St 2021 16,069

UNT   2021  42,372

Metro area: population:

Witcita ks 452,000

DFW  7,600.000

State of Kansas  3,000,000

City population:

City of Witcita  398,556

Denton  147,957

Just thought our future conference mate's fan should be more aware of who they are referring to as smaller program.

We are smaller in terms of coach salaries.

Brown will be paid $1 million for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, $1.25 million for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons and $1.5 million for the 2025-26 season

I am sure their overall basketball budget dwarfs NT.  That didn't seem to help them on the court.

And our much larger enrollment had absolutely nothing to do with our win.  What are you trying to explain? I was responding to their resources and the perception of their basketball brand vs. ours.  When they are talking about "smaller" schools, I think that's how they are using the word.

Smaller schools reference is obvious.  They (WSU fans) think they are a superior basketball program.   Hint, they aren't.

Fun facts, were just a dig at their fans' perception of WSU versus NT.  Have no idea why you are concerned, particularly after bringing up coaches salaries as some kind of factor.

We are as good of a team right now.  You can acknowledge that, and still recognize that their brand/program is much bigger.

Attendance.  Basketball budget.  National perception.

Not concerned at all.  Go Mean Green!

Don't forget, we had travel expenses to Wichita and we paid to have their women come to Denton.  There is also likely a large disparity between the attendance in Wichita and the attendance in Denton.

I feel like they should have done some research into recent history.  Us, we advanced to round of 32 in the NCAA TOURNAMENT LAST YEAR!!!!!!  We are the back to back defending conference champions.

them, they lost to drake in the ncaa tournament last year as an 11 seed and a "first four" participant.  If they thought for a second that this game was going to be a cakewalk then they were just well, delusional.

Hopefully this game will teach their team what it takes to win against possibly the best defensive team in college basketball.  Much like us playing Buffalo, Kansas, Miami, Drake....Oh yeah, the same Drake that beat them in the tourney last year.

Look at our record the last two years at this point. Last year 5-5 and the year before, 4-6.  Nowhere close to this and we have played better opponents this year.  We are getting better every game.

This is setting up to be a great week of Mean Green Athletics.

Now,  Who's next?!!!!!!

While Wichita State has a student population of about 16,000, they have a tradition of winning BB games.  Also, Wichita Kansas is a city of over 400,000.  If NT keeps winning and our fans start paying attention, maybe we will some day fill the Coliseum.

I legitimately wonder what would happen to our attendance if we made it into the top 25 (not saying that will happen this year…not impossible but would probably require largely running the table in conference). Do we get up into the 7,000 to 8,000 range if that happens? Or does it largely remain unchanged.

I have always maintained that if the Good Lord himself made an appearance at the Super Pit the place would not sell out.

Not much else to do in Wichita.  Great attendance for basketball (8,000+ each game), which helps give them a huge home court advantage, thus many home wins.   Interesting that it was lack of attendance that killed their football program.

This is the most embarrassed I've been as a Shocker fan in a very long time.

You would think that barely beating Jacksonville State at home might be a little more embarrassing than losing to the team that knocked off Purdue last year in the tourney.

Or maybe even losing to the powerhouse Louisiana Tech in 2018. I guess they just don't care to research their opponents.
