I thought NT really looked off, probably due to the long time between games.

Both teams had 24 turnovers and I don't ever remember refs calling as many jump balls.

Southern also played better than the normal "pay for a win" team.

Southern was hyper aggressive on defense and seemed to invite us to drive the lane. When we did, they collapsed the defense and we had trouble making shots in the paint.  When we started driving and kicking the ball out, the threes were mostly uncontested. That is when we pulled away, but we spent the whole second quarter turning the ball over.

This team is deep. All three girls that play inside had trouble in the first half. In the second half,  Lampkin started playing better and made a huge difference.

      I respect y'all sentiments about the unfairness of the system, but clearly none of you are really aware of the money involved. SMU has some crazy billionaires. But those couple big spenders are necessary because they have few alumni. With proper organization and motivation, UNT COULD definitely be in the #25-#50 spend range no question. Totally doable. Not top 10.... but guess what: those teams already had a huge payroll. NIL just makes it above the table and more democratic. UNT's athletic department and university administration is not totally bought in. I wouldn't give them NIL money either. They aren't in it to win. But if they change their mind, you'll find more NIL available. The donors at SMU are spending because the school is now in it to win. If we had the university governance we did in 2005, they wouldn't be spending, I assure you.
