Just committed to Missouri State.  The only reason I know of him is from following our RB commitment Qualon Farrar all season.  Henry has put up some pretty big numbers.  Has anyone seen him play in person?

Here are his stats:

Passing: 95 of 139 for 2178 yards with 31 TD's and only 2 Ints.

Rushing: 16  rushes for 200 yards and 5 TD's.

Here was the assessment from Cooley, who is probably the most knowledgeable poster regarding talent in Dallas ISD.

Committed to Missouri St. Excellent arm strength and accuracy. Throws  a very good deep ball.  Good mobility but primarily a pocket passer. Very quick release.

Does not look to run but is effective when needed. The only box unchecked is his size.  Can’t be much more than 160 lbs. Great stats but could have been much higher had it not been for the blow out wins in district; where the clock ran continuously after half in each game. (Exception was the first game loss to Duncanville).

You can catch film of him on maxpreps.com.  Search for South Oak Cliff, go to their schedule and click on each game.  There are usually some highlights there.

We should have been in on this young man from when we hit campus recruiting Farrar.

Keep in mind when Farrar committed he was still at Dallas Skyline.

We only offered 5 high school QBs this class, and all 5 ended up going P5. Not only that, but 3 of those 5 were offered back in 2020.

The last QB offer we extended for the 2022 class was Conner Harrell back in April. Seems pretty clear the staff just doesn’t care if we get a high school QB this class or not.

So no HS QB and it looks like we are not on the radar for any of the higher rated transfers. With all of the quality players we have been able to get, what is about Seth and crew that cannot get a QB? If we keep recruiting like this we are not going to enjoy our move to the AAC as much as we hoped.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we stop signing HS QBs unless they are a top recruit.  And why would we?  We have not had the best of luck with low 3 star guys and there are tons of FCS and FBS with college experience that demonstrates more than pure potential.  It makes sense.  I am sure we will go after a select group of blue chip QBs and if we strike out turn to a transfer.

When you look at the C-USA HS qb commits there offer list is not impressive except maybe for Lindy at La Tech which is showing a soft commit (which mean offers have dried up). Everybody will try to hit the home run on a transfer (UAB) or get a transfer in that has 3 or more years of eligibility instead of a HS player. Look who UTSA signed, they are going to have a tough time replacing Harris. Still to early to judge.

He was only recruited as a reserve; mainly to get in on the SOC/Dallas pipeline. (15 minutes away). Their guy was 4-Star QB Preston Stone of Parish Episcopal. Stone was injured and hasn't performed up to expectations. Jennings exceeded expectations. Not great but effective.

My understanding was we offered him along with Farrar (his RB teammate) and were on hold if SMU got another guy they had ahead of him.  We were all over this kid though because we were recruiting his teammate.   I have been hearing he was a very undervalued talent for a long time.

According to 24/7, Farrar committed to UNT on April 5, 2021 (offered on March 31, 2021) Still at Skyline High

SMU offered Jennings on December 8, 2021

Preston Stone signed on Dec. 16, 2020 and enrolled on Jan. 21, 2021.

Dallas Morning News

Rhett Lashlee didn’t have any previous knowledge of Henry-Jennings when he was hired as the next head coach at SMU. In fact, when he and some other SMU coaches went to the regional final against Lovejoy on Dec. 4, they were there to look at other players. After the first quarter, Henry-Jennings had caught his attention.

What stood out to Lashlee the most wasn’t Henry-Jennings’ athleticism — though he has plenty of it — but the way he threw the ball. Like NFL receivers at Robinson’s camp saw before the season, Lashlee saw someone who could make every throw, and do it with accurate touch.

Henry-Jennings completed 18 of 25 passes for 250 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for two touchdowns, leading South Oak Cliff to the state semifinals for the first time since 1970.

“All those things, seeing it in person, we just walked away thinking it made sense,” Lashlee said.

Lashlee hopped on a FaceTime four days later and offered Henry-Jennings a scholarship. He visited SMU that weekend, committed on a Sunday and then signed with the Mustangs on Wednesday.

And if you find Stone's thread, you will see where a poster on here saw him play live and wasn't overly impressed and didn't think he was worthy of his 5 star rating.
