2025 Possible Opponent

UTRGV (University of Texas Rio Grande Valley)of Edinburg voted to start a football program in 2025. Let’s get them scheduled to start the season 1-0.

The football and swimming/diving teams will compete in the Western Athletic Conference, along with the school’s 16 other sports, and reportedly play home games at H-E-B Park in Edinburg and Sams Stadium in Brownsville. Both stadiums can seat approximately 10,000 spectators, according to Conque. Playing in the FCS (Football Championship Subdivision), as opposed to the FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision), UTRGV is not required to construct a separate football stadium.

Deep South Texas could use a football program. They could be a CUSA program to give 2 programs in Texas again. Or a second in the Fun Belt. That region will support much line San Antonio will support when good.

Already have FCS games with Lamar in 2025 and HBU in 2026. Maybe in 2027 on after though.

Well, if they follow the UTSA model, that'll give them plenty of time to catch up to us and make the game a toss-up.
