Downtown Denton is a gem and I love the idea to make the whole Square area restaurants and tourist type shops, and reroute traffic around it.

After visiting Wrigley Field in Chicago, and several of the smaller "urban ballparks" like the Brickyard in Oklahoma City and AutoZone Park in Memphis, it became apparent that Denton could benefit from a downtown ballpark as it becomes more of a "name city" in the Metroplex and not just urban sprawl bedroom communities.

I believe it's time for Denton County to finally step up and build something for the public. They have a built in partner in the University of North Texas and the facility could be used for big high school rivalry games as well.

Plans would just need to start before North Texas spends it's budget on building an on-campus facility.

This is the AAA ballpark in downtown (at lease on the edge of) El Paso. Also home to the Soccer team. There has always been talk if UTEP started baseball they would play there

I grew up on Diablos baseball, during a golden era under Jim Paul.  Were you ever a fan?

Those Jim Paul years (that started way before my time) were incredible.  The guy revolutionized baseball, all the way up to the majors, with his game day promotions and atmosphere.  I have very fond memories of many Diablos wins, 25 cent hot dogs (4 dogs for a buck!) and all the Coca-Cola my dad would let me drink.  I wouldn't consider myself a baseball historian, but I imagine a lot of what we associate with today's game day atmosphere can be traced back to Jim.

I got John Jaha's autograph after watching him crush pitch after pitch out of the park.  He ended up with a solid MLB career, I know he went on to first play for the Brewers.

Also, fun fact: Diablos used to be called the Mavericks and Syd Cohen played for them in 1922.  Supposedly, he was the last pitcher to ever strike out Babe Ruth.

Loved the Dudley Dome with the way the balls flew out and the Strelz on the PA (when they didn't kick him out). Great memory - we were headed to a game at the dome. Got stuck in traffic listening on the radio they got down like 10 runs in the first two innings. We almost turned around. The Diablos scores something like 25+ runs and won by a score like 25-22. Typical in the dome
