Notable albums that he recorded on were Billy Joel’s Piano Man and Streetlife Serenade, The Jerry Garcia Band’s Compliments, Reflections, and Cats Under the Stars, and Run for the Roses. He then after Jerry Garcia Band disbanded, became Neil Diamond’s permanent concert and recording session drummer. He’s well recognized for his live drum work on ‘Holly Holy’ live. His biggest impact was his drumming for the TCB Band for Elvis from ’69-’77. Worked on all those albums and did all those tours with him. Did some fantastic work that drum fanatics all over still talk about.

Here’s a clip of one of his more famous drum colors for Elvis in ’77.

Hell of a career for a hell of a drummer. Going to listen to a few of his albums in memory of him!

Not to derail this thread--Tutt was great.  RIP.

Wanted to also throw out there that UNT has produced some great drummers over the years.  I got to see Keith Carlock with Steely Dan a few years ago.  Some fantastic talents from the UNT music school.
