UNT, SMU, Rice, UTSA, Tulsa, Navy, & Tulane would make a nice western division. Just wonder how SMU will vote in all of this.

I think the chess game between the MWC and the AAC will start for any Texas teams they might be interested in. The AAC will still most likely lose Memphis and maybe USF. Does the AAC want 2 teams in the Metroplex?

Until then, I’m gonna swear that the past two seasons of losing football must be the sole determinant for conference expansion.    😏

I like the MWC too, but this combination of additions would allow us to maintain a southern configuration with multiple division road games that are very driveable. I support this if we can get in.

I don't think anyone here has noticed some hidden details. What's worrying is if this isn't some typo/wrong info adding 6 would mean the AAC loses 2 more? So they are losing Memphis/USF/SMU or someone else? And who's to say it's to the Big12? 

 

*edit* apologies I thought the AAC had 10 teams, I didn't realize they had 8.

They have to be losing Wichita State, or the basketball numbers would be different. My guess is SMU is moving too. Can't see us getting in any other way.

Whoops, that's actually a mistake on my part. I thought they had 10 teams left, not 8. So for FB that would make 14. 

But I do think we have to be weary of more teams leaving the AAC. It seems like Memphis and 1 other are surely gone of the Big12 wants to take more teams. I don't see where else they can really draw from. Maybe Boise St.

Would think Boise, if not then USF, but I think it will be Boise to pair up with BYU in the West. Could SMU be talking to the MWC?

Have fun in the AAC. These are the likely divisions.

 

West: SMU, Tulsa, Tulane, North Texas, Rice, UTSA, Navy
East: USF, FAU, Temple, Memphis, UAB, Charlotte, ECU

So... AAC poaches Cusa.

MWC is forced to poach sunbelt.

Does MAC absorb the remainder or do old CUSA and sunbelt combine to round out the new G4

I can see Boise for the reasons you said. As far as SMU maybe, but it doesn't make sense for them to pay 10 million, plus entrance fees to the MWC, and go to a league with a similar payout.  They would also be moving away from their small private peers like Tulane and Tulsa.

Wherever we go ( if we do ) we ditch the C-USA commissioner, which is a good thing...a real good thing.

If, and I am a Pro MWC fan, I think they look at UTEP and perhaps work with a couple of FCS schools

If, and that’s a big IF, the merry-go-round stops there, then I don‘t see a divisional game that isn’t driveable or doesn’t perk up at least some ears for home games.  
 

Memphis (if they stay) is a big win for the basketball schedule, and Navy is a great football game home or away.  
 

Overall, a better conference than where we are.

      Seems like he played better in the first half of the season. But yeah he was extremely good and accurate early on. Seems like our defense should be improved with all the Sam Houston State players. Morris is a great offensive coach but his terrible DC hire will always haunt him as a head coach.

      I am 100 percent with you. Interestingly, Greek life is much more incentivized to go to basketball games rather than the football games. I can assure you that at least 20 Theta Chi's will be at the next game

      How good was Morris's season, overall? Was he head and shoulders above other QB's we've had? It seems pretty obvious to most that he was injured in the second half of the year, which raises questions as to why we didn't bench him instead of cutting our playbook to exclude downfield throws. Here's a look at 4 seasons of QB play since 2018 Season Stats Comp. Att. Comp. % Yards Yards/Pass TD INT Rush Yards Rush TDs Fumbles Fine 2018 301 469 64.18% 3793 8.09 27 5 20 2 6 Aune 2022 145 255 56.86% 2339 9.17 23 9 20 0 0 Rodgers 2023 262 421 62.23% 3382 8.03 29 5 180 5 11 Morris 2024 322 510 63.14% 3774 7.40 31 12 242 4 4 I keep some information about QB's handy to create my own rating system, sometimes I tweak it here and there. All of these seasons are within 4 points of each other on a scale of 0-140. Morris, had two of the highest rated NT QB games i've seen (South Alabama and Tulsa), but also had some real stinkers(Texas Tech and Army). We've actually had 3 consecutive years of very productive QB play (despite the general dislike for Aune). For reference, if you tease out Mestemaker's bowl start to a full season, it comes in just below these seasons, based on my rating system. I put all this up to highlight that Morris was very good here, but he wasn't stellar like we thought he would be after 8 games. I think Eric Morris can shape anything into a reliable QB at this point, next season is going to come down to: -Can we find a defense that can make stops? -Can Eric Morris (the OC) help out Eric Morris (the HC) by putting the rest of the team in better situations (game management, field position, roster decisions... etc.)?

      Ranting about the AD, Students, Attendance and Fan Support

      Jarod is nice. But he needs to kick some students in the backsides to get them to come to games! We had nice Sissoko playing basketball for awhile and he wasn't effective. Now we have focused, intense Sissoko playing basketball, making slams and taking names!
