Patterson is available…

Wifey is a horn frog…. I’ve been on the couch all week since I mentioned this to her

Yes we haven’t been discussing this lately cause it looks like Seth may be coming back now that he is winning games.

I'm convinced we haven't fired Seth yet because Wren already has his guy...Justin Fuente.

There's no need for us to fire Seth as long as Fuente is still employed by Virginia Tech. Plus, I'm sure Seth's buyout drops once the season is over so why not save some money while we wait for VT to fire Fuente?

Yes, let's bring him back after beating Rice in OT and a Southern Miss team that is a disaster.

Timing?
There is more to come. Virginia Tech dropped to 4-5 after scoring only three points Friday night at Boston College. A change in Blacksburg seems all but guaranteed, although the school might wait a bit, as Justin Fuente's remaining guarantee drops by $2.5 million on Dec. 15.

Why do we want Fuente? He set Virginia tech football back 5 years.

Really hoping a change of scenery is all Fuente would need to reinvigorate his career.   NT would be a great place to try and recapture the magic he created at Memphis.

Heck, hoping a change of scenery is what Littrell needs as well.  He doesn't seem happy doing his job anymore.   All he does when NT is losing is walk around on the sideline staring at the ground like this:

Search for info on 2014 & 2015 Memphis Football.    A future conference member of ours.   Not some ACC team.
He's done it on our level.   The bet is, he can do it again.

Not to mention his ties to both Texas (from his time at TCU) and Wren Baker(From their time at Memphis). He helped develop Andy Dalton at TCU and is a spread guy so the offensive transition wouldn't be too much of a shift

Fuente and Mike Norvell both did well at Memphis and both sucked at their next job, why do you think that is? P5 too much? Or is their something about Memphis that made it easier to succeed. I know Fuente had his own 2-star phenom a la Mason Fine in Paxton Lynch at Memphis that helped a lot.

Not necessarily a dealbreaker.  Holtz has been wonderful for LT (stand by that, even thought 2021 is not a good year for them), despite his garbage output at his previous stop (USF).  Sometimes it's about a change in scenery.

Sonny Dykes flamed out in just 4 years at Cal. At least Fuente had a little success at Va Tech.

I was going to say this but you beat me to it.   We’re seeing it first-hand every year SMU smashes us.

Dykes is a good coach.  He proved that while at LATech prior to him leaving for Cal & LATech hiring Skip.  But for whatever reason, Cal wasn’t a good fit for him.  Now he’s back at the G5 level tearing it up!

Fuente built up Memphis to the power they are today.   Norvell built upon it & took Fuente’s guys to higher heights.

Very little. Its not uncommon for a coach to be successful in one market and fail in another. While the grass may look greener it may just be paint.

Jerod Evans and Hendon Hooker... two absolute studs Justin brought into VA Tech that didn't stay after their first year of being badasses at VA Tech.

Just bad luck for Justin that he is in the spot (offensively) that he is currently in.  Not to mention taking the job that THE COACHING LEGEND of VA Tech (Beamer) had retired from.  This was not a good fit for him in the least.  Same to be said with Dykes moving out west to basically an IVY League school with all the hardships that it has fostering successful athletic programs.

I watched Neb play OSU and Neb is a a quarterback away from being a very good team.  Their QB struggled with accuracy and missed some wide open receivers.

He is throwing the other coaches under the bus to save his ass.

…likely mandated by Frosts AD. Minor detail…

100% accurate in Fuente’s case at Va Tech and Dykes’ case at California. Chased the bigger brand and better money, and while Fuente has been better overall than Sonny was at Cal, it’s a poor fit for sure.

Fuente would be an incredible hire at UNT!

This is what's going to make the TCU hire an impossible one.  It's going to be virtually impossible to fill Patterson's shoes, and the second you lose a game that the fans think you should've won, you'll never hear the end of it.    I bet Sonny passes on TCU.  I bet a lot of good coaches pass on TCU.

He did have Paxton Lynch....but you know who Fuente sent to recruit Paxton Lynch?

Let's just say it's a coach that has made a career out of finding the diamonds in the rough....would love to have his eye for talent back in Denton on someone's staff.

And the way Lynch ended up at Memphis is somewhat similar to the way Fine showed up in Denton. Someone dropped a note on Fuente's desk and they were desperate for a QB.

https://apnews.com/article/2cb1556641aa4efdb600f21b3bef2b9f

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Desperate for a quarterback, Justin Fuente heard of Paxton Lynch thanks to a note an administrator left on the new Memphis coach’s desk.

Few video clips existed of the quarterback actually throwing a football, so Fuente sent assistant Darrell Dickey to Florida to meet Lynch. .......

Very Little?
He has a 42-31 overall record at VATech, and has spent 30 weeks in the top 25, including 2 weeks THIS SEASON!    Would you take that "little" success here?
