This morning, I received the "UNT Insider" email from President Smatresk calling attention to all the good things currently going on at North Texas! He also notes the greatest football movie of all time, Necessary Roughness, was filmed on campus 30 years ago.

Here is a link to a write-up from the North Texan. You will see some familiar faces here!

The first day the movie hit U.S. theatres I watched it at the Hulen AMC off south Hulen Street in Fort Worth. It was fun to watch & see all the campus facilities & as Bill Mercer described our old lady many times—“venerable” Fouts Field.  May she Rest In Peace.

••• This pic I took of Bill Mercer & Craig Way (a UNT grad & longtime UT Longhorn radio network sportscaster).  It was at a Homecoming game in 1985.

The movie should be the theme of this year's homecoming activities.   Missed opportunity.

I think you got it right. The theme could have been, Missed Opportunities.
