Tailgating at SMU and Mean Green Section

Even though I am a little scared about the game Saturday,  I will be there to cheer on my Mean Green. Have about 15 people coming out and wanted to tailgate.

Anyone know the best parking area to do that? Also, anyone know which section the visitors will be in?

I plan to call the SMU ticket office tomorrow, but wanted to use this to also ask where others will be tailgating. 

Edit: Mean Green sections are 117-120.

Note also that the UNT Alumni Association has booked the Barley House for pregame activities.  Should be a lot of fun.  Good to have options.

Okay hardcore Green Backers come on down to my Town. Nice when the Mean Green play in the neighborhood.  Plans are firming for an easy to remember bounce around strategy:

9:00a - 11:00a Blackfriars Pub on McKinney Avenue - breakfast brews with Man U watch party. The other futbol and Ronaldo’s debut.

11:00a - 3:00p Christie’s on Greenville: 3 levels of impressive football watching options, good food, including an open air rooftop bar

3:30p - 5:30p Alumni Party at Barley House 

5:30p - March to Ford 

6:00p - Go Mean Green!!!

Easy close Uber rides to all locations. Early arrivers jump in wherever and let’s turn Dallas’ social scene green.

Ahh, now I remember why I didn't do this last time. I can't pick where I sit. It is whatever the ticket office chooses. I do want to get us credit, but can't take a chance of sitting in 200s section.

Yes, close to the Boulevard. I'll PM you more details because I have a large group that's coming, we're setting up a tent and such.

      This world does not exist anymore. It used to, but not in the portal and NIL age of college football. If players cared about coaching staff stability they would not be transferring at the rate they are. If this thinking permeates our AD, then they need to look for a new line of work because that ship sailed. Seriously, how many 17-18 years olds sit down and review the contracts of the coaches to decide which offer to take? High school recruiting should be de-emphasized. It can't go away completely, but building a program through the high school ranks over multiple years no longer works. When recruiting high school players, I think the only "stability" play is academic stability. There are a lot of players that have the skill and ability to play D1 football, but won't make it to the next level. Hopefully they are smart enough to realize that. Sell them (and their parents!) on playing a sport they love and getting a solid education and degree while they do. That's why it's important to continue to improve the academic status of UNT. We're not going to be a Stanford, but improving 4-year graduation rates and tighter admission standards will help.

      AAC Trend - Year 2 of 5 Firings

      At this point in the football cycle, if you fire a coach then you throw away all the recruiting work being done for the following seasons. The portal opens up in just a few days, and most AAC schools build their next years roster in the transfer portal. How hard is it going to be for these programs to build rosters for next season if they dont have a head coach going into the transfer window?

      Remember how much we hated La Tech in the 90’s and ‘2000’s? How we mocked them for stupidly going from an Independent in the 90’s to wasting the mega bucks on travel in the WAC in the 2000’s, and their obnoxious fans coming here talking trash? Then 2012 happened…… https://coachad.com/news/did-louisiana-tech-really-turn-down-a-bowl-game/ They had elevated their program to the point that when they lost the last two conference games of the ‘12 season finishing 9-3, and ending as the nation’s #1 offense, they were so damn upset over it they chose, either directly or indirectly to not play ULM in the Independence Bowl. That announcement was the day I practically fell in love with their school and their program because to me it was the greatest stance on principle and accountability and a standard they felt they had set for themselves and held to. Since then, we’ve been there several times, you and me, and have seen how poor their athletics were funded all those years, which gained even more respect from this college athletics fan. That’s where I am as a fan and alumn of NT right now. Wishing we would set a standard, a high standard and stick with it. Rick
