I rewatched the game today and it’s not good folks.  If they NWS had not turned the ball over in such critical situations on our side of the field, this game would have been VERY close!  This defense is still very weak.  Tyree Davis goes unblocked and makes a big play.  Next play he gets blocked and they run for 40.  Out linebackers are very small and against a bigger team like SMU they will be exposed.  I do think the front 4 is improved.  But that’s about it.  I’m sorry but Bennett is going to Need to recruit some better linebackers to make his defense work against this schedule.

The defense caused the turnovers.

To play “what if” is crazy.  “What if” passes hadn’t been dropped.  “What if” our reserve backs hadn’t been tackled.  We could go and on.

On a more positive note Gabe Blair basically started the game at left guard next to Cole Brown.  On the 2nd UNT series he had a terrific block down that opened up that huge Torrey run for 32 yards.  He’s going to be a great player.

The defense forced 3 turnovers, was explosive in how they put pressure on Fletcher, and held their all Conference running back to under 100 yards. We won by 30.

There are lots of problems to address before we go to Dallas but give some credit to guys like Stout and Gaddie who clearly showed their skill sets and involvement have improved.
