Overall, not too bad. Defense was much improved but still soft in outside lanes. I liked how aggressive they got.

They commented that there was a scheduling Quirk this year for the Southland and there are actually three teams I believe they will be playing twice

Buyers was a good player, but he never lined up in press coverage. his forte was being able to react quickly to a short pass and make a tackle

Glad we got the W, although it didn't look great early on, i can't complain about much. The running game was great and i hope that's a real look from our experienced OL. Ruder looked half a step late on some throws, but our WR's weren't helping much either. Defense, looked OK, hard to tell in a game like this. KD Davis, keep it up!

Simpson and Shorter were quiet all night.  Did Simpson even play?  Our routes were pretty basic all night.  Ruder looked a little off, but I think snaps will take care of that.  Aune looked good.

The Bad

Awful start

Defense looks as bad as ever, giving up 418 yards to NWS

Way too many costly penalties

Need a better field goal kicker

Way too many drops by the receivers

Ruder very shaky in first half

Too many missed tackles

 

The Good

Good overall effort

Ruder looked better as the game progressed

Giant game for Burns

Ruder much better runner than expected

Tory had probably his best game

Offensive line looks improved

SMU should be overconfident after viewing film of this game

 

The Ugly

The SMU game if this NT team doesn't get a lot better in a week

SLC lost a couple of teams to WAC, (and others?) and several teams are playing double games to makeup the missing teams.  Both games count in the conf record.
