What Will Probably Happen: The Big 12 doesn’t have the muscle or numbers to expand with AAC teams, but the ACC starts to loom larger in the equation.

The more prominent AAC programs cool on the Big 12 – past snubbings have something to do with it – but turn their attention to the ACC. Meanwhile, the AAC doesn’t stand pat as it looks into options in Conference USA that might make sense.

What I wonder is if the Big 12 does last and they bring over UH, Memphis, Cincy, UCF, and USF to replace UT, OU, and prolly KU, that would leave the AAC with 5 teams to replace. If so, Rice is a lock to move away, as would MUTS, an F_U, And Marshall. Seeing that SMU would still be in the AAC, I’d have to imagine they would love UTSA to join. I suppose we would just fill in with Texas State, ULL, Arky State, Appy State, and knowing CUSA, Georgia State because it’s a big school in Atlanta.

“The big enrollment schools of UTEP and UTSA” I stopped taking it seriously after that, then again seems like the wider national media forgets North Texas even exists. In any case all this is wild speculation, I would like to see the Vegas odds at this point.

As recent diatribes (manifestos) I’ve posted (& I will freely admit) to the point of ad nauseum🤮, I still sit here & ask myself:  Is this where half a century (for many of us on GMG) & of being UNT enthusiasts has gotten us?
Yet it’s not over til’ it’s over (or when dirt is thrown on top of all of us);  but it’s still the administration of UNT President Neal Smatresk, AD Wren Baker, the present UNT BOR’s, the Lovelaces, the McNatts, & similar plus an entire host of Denton’ites who did support the MG thru thick & thin—but it’s all the aforementioned & beyond who still give so many of us hope for all our tomorrows.

Admittedly—I’m Biased:  Leaving North Texas off that list of schools comes from those who are probably like the one who whistles while reluctantly walking (at midnight) thru a haunted cemetery😳—even they know UNT will turn into that uncontrollable monster Littrell talks about because they’ve toured our campus (albeit virtual); they know of our staggering growth with much more projected to come & they’ve toured (virtually) the Mean Green Village & know (maybe) only 1 or 2 in CUSA can even come close. So it’s like FFR said:  “It’s All Good—It’s All Green!”

Nah man I get it. I’m b*lls deep in realignment too. From what I’ve seen the only chance for a move is if the BIG12 gets absorbed by everyone else. If they stay intact North Texas isn’t going anywhere.

*This is my opinion it does in no way reflect the views of the University of North Texas, Texas, and the United States of America and beyond.
