Rhoades said the financial implications could put into question upcoming projects -- including the building of a new basketball arena -- and affect academic opportunities for students. Rhoades said the school, like others impacted, will also struggle to attract and keep talent on the field and in coaching staffs.

"The economic impact is real," Rhoades said less than four months after the men's basketball team won the NCAA championship. "If we are no longer a member of a Power Five, we will sell less tickets, we will sell less merchandise, we will raise less money and we will have less corporate sponsorship."

I think the economic impact is overblown, I would have thought all the sexual assault lawsuits should have gotten them in more trouble than it did (which was no trouble at all). No more suckling from the P5 tete it seems.

Going from $37 million a year to $7 million a year will not be fun…but it will be fun to watch and it is so very due for that pissant school.

Baylor is on the line, they’re wondering if we are interested in a home and home?….tell them we’ll call them back 😅

The only Big 12 team I feel for is TCU--they busted their ass to build up an incredible program after the SWC imploded. Whether it was the WAC, CUSA before it became the AAC (for the most part), the MWC (with BYU, Utah, and a year with Boise State), and then the Big XII. That program pioneered their own path and it made them a ton of money--that Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin got them an application jump of like 70%. They did what we should have done the moment they left the MWC--called their commissioner and told them we would gladly take their place. We saw how they did it and ignored it.

I don't know what the future holds for the Frogs--its probably gonna see a gigantic drop in revenue again. But they sure as hell have earned the right to be believed in for landing on their feet and making lemonade out of these sour lemons.

I feel your pain Baylor and TCU, but as someone stated they didn’t give a shit about leaving Rice, TCU, Houston and even SMUt(Baylor that is). Now all these leftover in Texas have to generate ticket sales and money without OU & TU. Now let’s see what they do on their own😀

Just wondering if those of you who want the B12 to go away and be absorbed by the AAC and/or MWC, that probably puts those conferences further out of our reach. Hey, but like many, as long as someone else is getting taken down a notch you feel better.

So much irony in this post. Hope it made you feel better, though.

Dude….we are not going to the BIG12 or the MWC. The chances of any upward movement in conference are slim. Baylor and the rest will be fine because most likely they’re going to merge with the PAC12…how bout we just have fun with it until then 😏

If the PAC 12 wouldn’t ever take BYU, Baylor has no shot with the California Iibs. No chance.

Well…they don’t run the PAC12. Casino Commish is in charge and he’s looking to shake things up. Again that’s an old school mindset that is just not true anymore

Wouldn’t have happened on our part if the present UNT staff had been in place.
