The SEC is reportedly targeting multiple historic powerhouses for expansion.

 

According to Barstool Sports’ Jack McGuire, the SEC has been in contact with Ohio State, Clemson, Florida State and Michigan amid massive expansion talks.

The SEC, PAC12, B10, ACC, etc. are redefining college football.  Same as when the NCAA had minimum attendance standards for schools to remain D1A.  All others dropped.  

They want their own "club" with certain members and conferences.  The rest of us can take our ball and go home.

If the SEC gets those schools, they pretty much have things wrapped up.  They then have all the leverage to pick up 8 or so more schools worth having and then they have their own post-NCAA league.

Nope, there needs to be a win or two on the schedule. You would think most of the 2nd level SEC teams will be looking for OOC games they fill they can win to get to 6

I can see them talking but can't see any of those schools going.   

However, if it did happen then the SEC would become by itself the highest level of college football all on it's own. 

SEC > FBS > FCS.

It's not true. Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina have a voting block pact to keep any of their in-state rivals from joining the SEC. 

There may be a lot, a whole lot of ESPN money being offered, but it's never going to be enough to break that pact. Their alumni will never let them sacrifice their "clear supremacy" for an increased paycheck. A&M had no such alliance so they were powerless to keep out Texas. The only consolation for the Aggies is that the SEC will be four divisions of four teams, with Texas paired with Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. A&M will likely be pared with LSU, one of the two Mississippi schools, and one of the two Alabama schools in it's SEC quad.
