The last glimmer of hope from a McCarney-coached team. This was before the putrid offense finally beat the other 2 phases into submission. Hell the Texas game the week before had me wanting to vomit. We threw 3 completions and 4 picks that game. After DT and crew left, our offense was beyond disastrous. You can see from this video (and the Texas game if you were there) the defense was as good or very close to as good as the 2013 defense until their constantly being on the field due to poor offense wore them down. I have no doubt that this is the reason Skladany retired for good because he was still doing a damn good job but the defense can only do so much.

He was so bad, even his completions were wounded ducks.

Josh Greer would not have started at any other FBS school…maybe not even at most FCS schools. He would have been a fine QB at a D-2 school.

This was my freshman year. I remember keeping up with the team in 2013 when they made a bowl game for the first time in a decade and couldn't wait to get to campus, and even bought tickets to the UT game the week before and was convinced we'd shock the country.

Unfortunately, as Cr1028 mentioned, we'd shock the country with our 15 passing yards.

This was an awesome game to make up for it though. Sure wish we could have kept the momentum up against SMU the next season.

In 2006 and in 2014, we beat the brakes off of SMU in Denton--and it was always the 2nd game of the year and proved to be the highlight of both seasons

I (and others) never thought we should have gone to last year's bowl games considering some of our situation, but no way an AD and/or HFC can tell his players "no" to a bowl game if they they meet the NCAA criteria to go to one. Chock it all off for experience I guess one might say with the payola down the road?
