In its policy, UK outlines six categories of endorsements that athletes are barred from engaging in:

  • Lotteries, Casinos, sports wagering facilities, online equivalents
  • Products and establishments that market products exclusively to those 18 years of age or older.
  • Adult entertainment (i.e. strip clubs, pornography, etc.)
  • Tobacco, marijuana, nicotine vapor products, etc.
  • Apparel, sportwear, footwear, athleisurewear during all team activities
  • Providers of higher education (other colleges and universities), health care, and related services.

I don’t think any school is going to allow the players to market cigarettes, booze, and strippers.

Why not?  SMU is allowing them to market hookers, Hyundai's and meth.

Just because I’m bored. Hypothetically speaking….would North Texas given Mason Fine (while he was still playing and if the NIL was in place) a cut from all of the UNT shirts written in Cherokee?

I think that falls under public domain and fair use. Although UCF had that weird staring fan a couple years ago…let’s be real no one wants any of that merch. On the flip side “Suns in 4 Guy” is making a killing in merch. So basically do something that’s marketable and you’ll get a slice…if not sorry for you 😅
