I watched him play in the game against Penn State, and thought he looked good.  He definitely has talent, but has yet to put it all together as a QB.  Regardless, he has ability to change games somewhere on the field, so it's a good pickup for Rice.  And a better Rice makes for a better C-USA, which is good for us.

Would you liken him at all to Bean?

Maybe a little.  They're both athletic, but in different ways.  From what I recall, McCaffrey was better running between the tackles and a little more elusive, but didn't have that long antelope stride of Bean.  McCaffrey seemed to have a quicker release, and maybe more versatile as a passer.

Rice is no longer an easy win.  That coach they hired from Stanford is the real deal.

Coming from Stanford, he understands the mix of academic standards and athletics.  He was a smart hire by Rice.  McCaffrey will be a good CUSA QB if he sticks around.

Good pick up by Rice.  Better than Bean but similar arm.  Really wants to play QB but skillset is much better suited toward slot.  Weak arm but a playmaker. Really fast.

Had his moments at Nebraska watched him every game. Not a big 10 level QB.  Needs to accept that his arm is not D1 caliber.

Absolutely. Bloomgren is an outstanding coach who fully understands the dynamics of Rice. He's building a competitive program down there in Houston with a unique approach a style. If he can ever have a big year he will be on industry radars for bigger job opportunities.

*scrambles to think of rice puns* Uhhhhh uhhhh well as good as he is you don't want too many cooks in the kitchen

Um

This guy probably doesn't have to "wheat" his turn for the starting job

What's he gonna do? Send Rice to the Stir-Fry Bowl?

Anyway, that's enough posting online for me today.
