I don’t think North Texas folk in general realize what this Darden Brady connection could mean for North Texas.  It would literally be the biggest national story UNT has had as a University since probably Mean Joe Greene or perhaps Charles Whitman.  We have not had an offensive player of this caliber in the NFL in the history of the program.

You must have forgotten Ray Renfro.  Although it was a long time ago he was all-pro and in several pro bowls.  He was also a receiver.

Maybe just trying to protect him for the real season?

They played the starters for the first quarter and Darden didn’t really play until the 3rd string came out. But he by far had his best game of the preseason. Had 3 catches for 35 yards with a long of 26 yards. He also had a very nice 17 yard punt return.

In other UNT news, Hambone had a really nice sack and had some other good rushes. Definitely a good final impression to leave right before final cuts.

These Darden updates are great.  I curious as to how Jaylon Guyton is doing on the Chargers.  Preseason reports on him are sparse.

He hasn’t played much this preseason because I think his spot is secure as the 3rd receiver. Based on ESPN reports of 53 man roster projections, both he and Darden are safe.

Darden, as a 4th rounder, wasn't getting cut unless he has been awful in practice and the preseason.  He has been just fine.

I never even gave it a 2nd thought.

---In the history of the program. ?? .... UNT had lots of NFL players about 1970 ... partly because the SWC was not allowing blacks to play in the late 1960's and many great ones came to UNT and West Texas State ,now West Tx A&M at Canyon. They had Mercury Morris and Dwaine Thomas there.  ...  Not all of them at UNT were black either ... The Denver QB was Steve Ramsey for a few years and he was white and good and was replaced by Craig Morton later.... Ramsey was our QB at UNT at the same time  as Joe Green was here  .. also Cedrick Hardman, Ron Shanklin,  and several more that played in the NFL  . We have had a few since then as well... including a RB (Randal Cobb) about 2000-2005..
