I wonder if they will end up buying the game out but would it not be the biggest name opponent we have ever had in Apogee stadium?  Why is it so hard to get name opponents to come to Denton?

Why is it hard to get them to Denton?  Maybe it’s because we haven’t asked them to come to Denton?

At Fouts Field we had Oregon State, Vanderbilt, Florida State, #19 ranked San Diego State & others.

I believe we had Indiana in Denton in either '11 or '12. To me that's a bigger deal than Cal just considering that they are a B10 team. Still exciting that Cal is coming to Denton tho.

No way. They are historically, one of the worst Big 10 teams. Went to 1 bowl from 2007-2016 and in 2011 they went 1-11. Cal has had more success, minus last year's Indiana team.

Cal would also have more people traveling because I don't remember very many IU fans

Wasn’t the Big 10 Indiana Hoosiers our first win at fabulous Apogee Stadium?

Being in the B10 doesn't do anything more for Indiana's football credibility than, say, KU's football cred being in the B12 or Vandy in the SEC.

Cal is definitely a step up.

It was the first game ever.  And it happened to be a win.

McCarney thought it was a convenient way to get Iowa pal McNulty in as the first player to ever score a TD in Apogee.

That was a loud and fun drive to open the stadium. I bet there were 2 thousand or so people still outside

We opened against Houston and yes that drive the stadium was rocking

Here is a video of the 1’st touchdown ever at fabulous Apogee Stadium vs the Houston Cougars.
It was a glorious moment for we older geezers who pert’ near lost our eyesights👀watching games at venerable Fouts Field for decades.

🟥UH Coach Kevin Sumlin had to call 2 timeouts due to crowd noise.

The Cal fans were so nice to me in Berkeley. They raved about Mason, and said he was so much better than their QB. A few of them even shook my hand after the game.

My point is this, ODU has a home and home for 10 years with Virginia Tech.  Why can't we be similar?  I found an article on ODU and they clearly are getting some of the best non-conference schedules in C-USA, possibly in all of G5.  Why can't we do similar?

"We have a bold vision as to where we want to take our football program," said Deputy Athletic Director Bruce Stewart, who handles football scheduling for the University.

"We have used our great location and fan base to help secure these home opportunities against attractive Autonomy 5 programs within our region."

The Hokies are coming to Norfolk five times over ten seasons. That shows the respect that Tech Athletic Director Whit Babcock and Coach Justin Fuente have for ODU.

On my radar: the SWC history makes everything in Texas/Southwest a lot more complicated than elsewhere, even decades after-the-fact.

I take it you don't consider the 10+ year home & home with SMUt to be comparable. 😋

I will believe it when Cal actually shows up.

We need to make sure the first game of the series is in Denton.

Then they can buy our the road trip from us if they want.

This is suppose to be pay back from our trip out there if I'm not mistaken
