Our ladies started off pretty shaky but recovered and sit in third place after the first round with a team score of -5.  This tournament counts the top three players from each team in the team score.  We currently are five strokes behind the leaders, Houston, and three strokes out of second, Purdue, as these two teams wrap up their first round.  Considering we sat at +5 and in 8th place early in the round, to finish at -5 is great.

Individually, Lauren Cox is tied for second place after an opening round 68 to sit at -4, three strokes off the current leader who is on her final hole at this time.  Lauren was five under on the back nine.  Audrey Tan is tied for 5th after shooting a 69 to sit at -3.  Tan was -4 on the back nine.

Other finishers for UNT were:

Katie Finley at +2 (T24)

Emilie Ricaud +5 (T39)

Shreya Pal +5 (T39)

The ladies are in first at -10 after the first two rounds played on Thursday. They are seven shots ahead of Houston and Purdue heading to the third and final round on Friday.

Great job so far by the Ladies

Its a good thing somebody put this together. These players deserve this.

Would have deserved a shot at the real thing even more. Clearly shows that it would have entierly been possible for NT to qualify had they been given a fair shot by the NCAA.

The ladies are -6 through holes 4-7 on the final round to lead by twelve strokes.  This score doesn't include Cox who is currently +2 on her round, so the ladies are playing well.  Outside of Purdue, -1 on their round, every other school is over par today.

We have one player still out on the course that will not factor into the team's third round score with the team up by six strokes.

Your UNT Lady Mean Green Golf Team are the Champions of the "Let Them Play Classic".  The NCAA should do the right thing and invite them to the NCAA Finals...but they won't.

Great job ladies.

Audrie Tan will be your medalist/individual champion shooting a -9 to win the title by three strokes.

Fantastic performance.

We are the official champions.  The best news is the team only loses Lauren Cox, and while that is a big loss, I expect Akers to find a great young lady to fill her spot.

Still pisses me off that they were cheated out of a chance to play for an NCAA title because the NCAA and LSU were so inept in hosting their regional.
