Jumping from the Sun Belt to Conference USA to the American is evidence we don't sit around. If a bigger conference puts some dollars in our G string we take them to the private room. Maybe our moves aren't as good and our assets aren't as big but we try harder.
Overall, I think it's a good schedule. We're going to have 7 home games at least three of the next five seasons. So the marketing/sales teams are going to have to deal with a lot of home games in a short period of time. But that's what they get paid for.
Here are my positive takeaways:
The UTSA and Rice games are both on Saturdays. I figured we were due for a Friday night home game. While we will have at least two Friday games, neither are UTSA nor Rice. This conference needs rivalries to grow, so give the fans a better chance to travel! Games at SMU and UTSA the past two years were on Fridays, and Mean Green fans were not able to travel in full force.
Nobody cares about our post-Thanksgiving games, so at least we landed the opponent our fans care about the least in Temple for that game.
Too bad we are probably going to have another tough Homecoming, either against UTSA or Navy, which would have been well-attended games regardless.
