1988...Wasn't that the year we played No. 1 Drake in The Pit?

In 1980/81, we hosted the #1 Depaul team with Mark Aguirre.  I don't recall Drake ever being ranked #1....in anything.

They've won some Track and Field National Championships in their history, so I guess they've been #1 in something.

One time they made the Final Four in basketball (1969).

How the hell do they have Marshall and La Tech in the NIT and not us? Marshall isn't even better than ODU

I think most believe Marshall is in the top tier of CUSA play, along with WKU, LT, and UNT.

There is some room for debate, though.  ODU is ahead of them in the standings.  Marshall is ahead of them in both NET (78-143) and RPI (52-71).

Personally I see UTSA as a scary draw.  If that little guard gets hot they can beat anyone.  A lot of parity this year.

UTSA, IMO, is the one team I think is prime to get someone early.  but I can't imagine them winning 2 or 3 games.  Just not enough depth on paper to sustain the level of play needed.

So this is the 3rd time a tournament has been hosted at the Pit? I guess if you count the CBI.

It will actually be #4. Everybody forgets we hosted the Southland tournament in ‘88 and ‘89. We won the regular season both years and back then the conference champion hosted the tournament.

Didn't we also host a Sunbelt tournament as well?

I think we hosted an opening round if I’m correct? I swear it was against ULL

We hosted the Sun Belt tournament in 2005. We bowed out in the first round losing to Arkansas State.

Some nice games at the Super Pit.  Not many school that have won National Titles have played at NT, so I'd definitely try and catch NC State's game if I still lived in the area.

I'd definitely wanna see that NC State/Davidson game.  Would probably try and go tonight too since there's no NCAA game on against it.  Hopefully some locals take advantage - these are some quality schools that never come to Denton.
