I really like his video, but I think we are making some bold assumptions that he is just going to plug in and play.

Was a starter in 2019 when Rice beat us, holding Fine to 163 yards, no TDs and a Pick. Just sayin’.

This.

Although, I will say, as compared to Ruder, that he has over a season of experience starting in C-USA.  So that, to me, means more than stars coming out of high school for sure.
Granted, Rice's secondary was not the greatest in the world, but he was a part of the one that shut Mason Fine down in 2019 to the tune of <150yds and 0/1:TD/INT... so he can't be too bad!

Exactly. That doesn’t mean he is a for sure starter, but we know we have a proven CUSA starter. And if he’s not starting, that’s probably even better news that our starters are good enough to relegate a CUSA starter to being a rotation/depth guy.

I am glad he is here, and his highlight tape is pretty impressive, but he was offered by Rice and La-La out of HS with a sub .80 rating.  Seems he may have some work to do to land a starting spot.

Once a player has built up a body of work at the FBS level, we are no longer forced to go by the uncertainty of high school recruiting rankings.

Thornton graduated from Rice. Very impressive accomplishment.

Hope he can get here and learn the system ASAP. Will be nice to add a proven CUSA starter to our CB rotation. We have a lot of options at CB, just need a few of them we can rely on.

Feel like this is the biggest news (maybe outside of Ruder) of the offseason.

Some, dealt this hand, would consider it an explanation for failure.  This young man made the most of the situation and became successful by any standard.  Great for him, his Mom, and now, for North Texas.

Thornton is no longer on the roster

He's a smart kid. Can't blame him.  Focus on future career.  This season won't leave any fond memories
